First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you guys for your continued support. It’s been a long haul for all of us in the Kava community with all this going on.
As many of you have known, our supply chain has been disrupted for quite some time now due to the grounding of airlines because of the virus. Over the last few months, we’ve been working tirelessly to try and secure a new shipping route with little to no success. Vanuatu implemented a cargo flight, once a week, for supplies; but unfortunately, they were prioritizing perishables first. Meaning, when it came down to ship the Kava, there was no more room on the planes, and we would then have to wait for the following week for the next flight.
As a result, we have not been able to get our regular shipments in as usual. We’ve alternated shipping large orders by sea, which is more cost effective but takes longer, with shipping smaller orders by air, which is more expensive but arrives quicker. This hasn’t been the case over the past several months.
Come June, our supply chain is still dismantled, but we are trialing a new shipping route and continue to explore other options for importing. An order that was placed in February 2020 has just now arrived in the United States, 4 months later, but is currently being held in customs for clearance. We are confident that this new shipping route will be successful, but there are still a few speed bumps in the road before we get back to 100% operational.
Currently, all orders are limited to 10 kg of Kava max, and prices have been adjusted temporarily to reflect the shipping issue. Once we receive this cargo, we will increase order limits to 20 kg per order. Once we receive a few shipments on this new route, proving its success, we will lift all restrictions completely, as well as stabilize pricing as best as we can.
We do apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused our customers. We feel for everyone going through these tough times. We hope to return to normal business operations as soon as possible, and want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our customers for your continued support. We greatly appreciate it!
