We offer varying strengths for everyday and ceremonial purposes as well as instant Vanuatu kava for convenience and more potency. Browse our wide selection and buy Vanuatu kava in vacuum sealed bags by the kilogram or resealable bags in 4, 8, or 16 ounces.
Known as “The Fire Islands of the South Pacific,” Vanuatu is a nation made up of roughly 80 islands. Throughout these islands, kava has been a large part of traditional and ceremonial practices for thousands of years. Many believe the plant originated in Northern Vanuatu before eventually making its way across the rest of the South Pacific. Let’s take a look at different types of Vanuatu kava, the benefits of the plant, how it’s cultivated and processed, and how it’s packaged.
Types of Vanuatu Kava
At Kava Depot, we offer many types of Vanuatu kava—typically differing based on the ratio of basal roots and lateral roots. The basal roots—or chips—are the thicker roots closest to the stem, which tend to be lighter in color, higher in starches, and not quite as potent as the lateral roots. Lateral roots are the thinner, darker roots further from the stem. These are higher in kavalactones—the active ingredient in kava—which means they tend to be more potent.
From Black Label and Taboo to 100% lateral root and basal root, our kava shop has a wide variety so that you can enjoy what works best for your needs.
Traditional kava is a blend of 70% basal chips and 30% lateral roots, and it can be used both for ceremonial practices and daily use. Black Label kava is a blend of 50% lateral root and 50% basal root. This particular type is also dehydrated directly after harvest rather than being completely sundried. Taboo kava is a 50% lateral root and 50% basal root blend as well, and it’s dried in the sun to remove all moisture from the plant.
Benefits and Uses of Vanuatu Kava
While kava is not a cure for anxiety, some of the plant’s properties may help relieve its symptoms. Kava from Vanuatu promotes feelings of relaxation and happiness and is stimulating rather than sedating. This uplifting experience can help calm the mind and promote feelings of inner peace and joy.
Because Vanuatu kava is calming and uplifting without the intoxication that comes from alcohol, it can be beneficial for both daily and ceremonial use.
The natural relaxation Vanuatu kava offers can also help relieve physical tension and pain in the body.
It’s always a good idea to speak with your physician first before making any major lifestyle changes—particularly when seeking alternative means to stress relief or replacements for prescription medications.
How Vanuatu Kava is Cultivated and Processed
Kava from Vanuatu is a noble strain of kava, carefully processed to offer all the benefits of kava without the side effects of non-noble varieties. Our Vanuatu kava is organically grown in rich, volcanic soil and the harvested plants range in age from 5 to 6 years.
Available Forms and Packaging Options
